Application Deadline

Early Decision : Sep 30, 2010

  • E.D is exclusively for previous campers/their siblings/early inquiries. *
    * Early inquiry candidates must have inquired before September 1, 2010.
  • These individuals are given the opportunity to participate in an early interview, which can result in an early decision.

    Regular Admission : Nov 30, 2010

  • If there are no more available places for admission after the Early Decision deadline, then there will be no Regular Admission process.
  • As soon as the number of applicants from each designated region is satisfied, the registration for that region will be closed. In such a case, late application deposits from that region will be fully refunded.
  • Admission Process (Domestic Students)

    1.
    Online : Complete an online application and submit your deposit of $500 at kentprep.com
    Mail-in : Please mail a completed application form along with your deposit of $500 in the enclosed self-addressed envelope by the deadline.

    2.
    Once we receive your completed application, we will schedule an admission phone interview within 3 - 5 business days. Each candidate must go through a 30-minute phone or in-person interview with the program director.

    3.
    Once you pass the preliminary interview, the following will be required:
                1.Official standardized test (ex. SSAT, PSAT, SAT, etc) scores must be submitted.
                2.If scores are unavailable, a placement test will be required.

    If you do not meet the criteria or submit all required documents on time, we will release your place from the program and refund your deposit, after deducting a $150 application and interview processing fee. (Please see the Payment & Refund Policy.)

    4.
    Once all of the following documents are received and screened, the selected students will receive a formal letter of acceptance within 7 business days along with an invitation to register in the program.

    5.
    Upon receiving the acceptance letter, if applicable, please book your flight to JFK International Airport and purchase your ticket ASAP, for it is exceptionally difficult to book flights during this season. Please note that all students must check-in by 12:00pm, Sunday, December 26, 2010 and check-out by 2:00pm, Friday, December 31, 2010.
    *Airport transportation services are available for all students traveling via plane and accommodations for early arrivals and late departures will be referenced upon request.
    Please see pertaining Airport Transportation Fees under the Tuition & Non-Inclusive schedule to verify which services you will need.

    Non-Inclusive Fee Schedule:

    - Eastern Time Regions (Less than 2 hours away via plane)

            Private pick-up and drop-off service ----------------------------------$ 150 (each way)
            All flights must be booked to arrive at and depart from JKF International
            Airport in New York within these time frames to avoid additional fees:

            Arrival time frame: 8:30AM - 10:30AM on December 26, 2010
            Departure time frame: 5PM - 7PM on December 31, 2010

            Additional fee for flights booked to arrive and
            /or depart out of specified time frame ----------------------------------------$ 75 (each way)

    - Other US Time + International Regions

            Early arrival special pick-up service ----------------------------------$ 225
            * This service is intended for students that need accommodations upon arriving before
            December 26, 2010. This service will provide private pick-up & drop-off service from
            JFK International Airport to designated board and subsequently from board to
            program site on check-in day.

            Late departure special drop-off service ----------------------------- -$ 175
            * This service is intended for students that need to be dropped-off at a location
           other than JFK International Airport upon departing after December 31, 2010.
            This service will provide private drop-off service from program site to a location
            within a 20 mile radius.

            For those students that will only need boarding accommodations on account of early
            arrival or late departure, accommodation recommendations will be available upon request.

    Payment & Refund Policy (Domestc / International Students)
    • To reserve your place at Kent Prefects, a deposit of $500 USD is required by the deadline.
      - If your application is received after we close the registration for your region,
      you will be notified and your deposit of $500 USD will be fully refunded.
      - If you are not selected after the admission process, you will be notified and
      your deposit will be refunded after deducting a $150 USD application and interview
      processing fee.
      -For International Students : If we must refund your deposit via wire transaction, a $45 USD outgoing wire transaction US bank fee will be applied.

    • For Domestic Students : Once you are accepted to the program, the total remaining balance of $3,000 ($2,750 remaining tuition balance + $250 refundable dormitory security deposit) is due within 7 business days from the postmarked date stamped on your acceptance letter. If the total balance is not paid in full by the due date, your place will be released. This balance must be sent via personal check, bank check or money order made payable to "KENT" (194-11a Northern Blvd. Bayside, New York 11358).
      If you need to send the amount via wire transfer, please call for more information.


    • For International Students : Once you are accepted to the program, the total remaining balance of $3,045 USD ($2,750 remaining tuition balance + $250 refundable dormitory security deposit + $45 incoming wire transaction US bank fee) is due within 10 business days from the postmarked date stamped on your acceptance letter. If the total balance is not paid in full by the due date, your place will be released. This balance must be sent via wire transfer and the necessary bank information will be provided along with your letter of acceptance.

    • If you will be traveling via plane, pertaining airport transportation fees (listed under the Non-Inclusive Fee Schedule) must be added to the total remaining balance.

    • Cancellation of your participation in the program will be subject to the following policy:
                Before October 1, 2010 : 90% of original tuition refunded
                October 1, 2010 - October 31, 2010 : 70% of original tuition refunded
                November 1, 2010 - November 30, 2010 : 30% of original tuition refunded
                On or after December 1, 2010 : No refund
      An additional $250 USD dormitory security deposit will be refunded upon all cancellations.
      For international Students : An additional $250 USD dormitory security deposit, minus the $45 outgoing wire transaction US bank fee if applicable, will be refunded upon all cancellations.


    • Once the program begins, no refund will be issued for disciplinary violation dismissal
      or voluntary withdrawal.
